yellowstone.

it seems like the last 3 years i have been at school i have had roommates every semester who say, "let's go to yellowstone" and i always say "YES!" and yet we never seem to make it to yellowstone. so, at the start of the semester as i was getting to know roomies i mentioned how one of my semester goals was to go to yellowstone and they seemed very excited, so a few weeks back we were all just hanging out and we decided to set a day and actually go to yellowstone. so we figured out everyones schedules and decided ... june 9th, rain or shine, we were GOING to yellowstone. and, who would have guessed, we actually went!!! (and it even rained, heck, it evened snowed for a while, but it was also sunny too, it was a good yellowstone day)

we got up early this morning and were out the door by 8:04 (we planned to leave at 8, we decided 4 minutes late wasn't bad at all). we ran to the store, picked up some food, went and picked up our roomies brother so he could join us for the journey and off we went!

don't worry mother, i did not take this picture while i was driving (actually i did ... actually i took all of them)

it was so much fun, and so amazing! i can't believe i have lived in rexburg for 3 years now and this is really the first time i have gone to yellowstone, it was beautiful. michelle requested we stop and get a picture of the pretty forest scenery (**side story at bottom)

i got to see old faithful erupt (is that was old faithful does?)
old faithful definitely got higher than this, but i didn't get a picture of it

it was pretty cool. i was impressed. then we walked around and saw a bunch of different hot pools and geysers.
the water was so clear, it was crazy!

so much steam

morning glory

this was a little geyser, but the wind was blowing so hard it sprayed us, it was fun

on the way out of yellowstone we saw a buffalo and her baby walking down the highway. they were on the opposite side from us, but we stopped and watched them walk closer and closer to us

 until they were right next to us

and just passed us by.

it was pretty amazing. i was so close to them. they caused quite the traffic jam, i'm pretty sure there were about 30 cars behind them following their slow pace as they just walked down the highway. it made me laugh. it was a great day and it was fun spending time with my roomies, these 3 girls are my favorite people ever!
this was taken last sunday, but i needed a cute one of just the three of them (michelle, morgan, shelby)

they are fabulous. we have so much fun together. and we have some fun plans in store for the coming weeks! so look for some more stories to come!! :)

** side story - when we drive to yellowstone we start off in rexburg, so we start off in flatlands, plains, valleys, landscapes such as that, but as you get closer to montana and yellowstone it turns into more trees and such. well, we started going up into a mountain, lots of pine trees, and we all hear morgan say, "this reminds me of a forest" and we burst into laughter and of course i was the one to say, "that's probably because this IS a forest." turns out she wasn't done talking, she meant to say, "this reminds me of a forest, which reminds me of camping, which makes me excited!" (we're going camping in 2 weeks.) so, in her mind it made sense, but it was just hilarious to drive into a forest and hear someone say "this reminds me of a forest." good times, good times.

scripture of the day:
Psalms 96:6 Honour and majesty are before Him: strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

today i am thankful for:
* the amazing people that God puts in our lives.
* nature.
* cars that do what they are supposed to.
* being able to walk a couple miles (up and down) without dying.
* laughing.
* singing.
* pictures!

I saw these pictures on facebook and said, "I am so jealous..." Trevor was surprised that I had never been to Yellowstone. I am glad that you got to finally go. Looks like you had fun. Did you take all these pics with your phone?

you should definitely make it a life goal to go, so much fun! it was amazing, make sure your kids are old enough not to try and run off though, it's really dangerous, there were signs everywhere. but, you should go, it is just a new experience, you know? unlike anything else i've ever seen or done before. also, i just took these pics with my little dinky digital camera. my phone camera is all messed up and doesn't really work anymore. it does, it just makes all my pictures look like it's foggy. but yeah, long answers to your short questions. <3.

Sounds like fun. I went to Yellowstone once. I think I was about 1. All I've ever heard about the trip was that my brother liked to go "pissin" (fishing) with Aunt Ruby. Maybe it's time to go again.
