project pinterest.

there are always so many cool looking projects on pinterest that i think to myself, "hey, you should do that." but then, i never do. for some reason, it is easier not to do projects than to do them, who knew! well, i got back up to idaho, and i found myself thinking more and more about this project i had seen on pinterest. (here) i decided, why not do it! i don't have much else going on since i am off-track and still looking for a job. so i decided to make myself a magnet make-up board. i was off to DI in a flash, i went straight to the picture frame isle. the picture frames were in short supply. then, at the very bottom of a pile of frames i spotted something. at first i thought, "that's gross." and then i remembered i would be painting it and realized, "ohh, i would really like that." so i grabbed it.
$1.50

i love the embellishment in the corner!
then i decided to get some glasses to put my tall lanky items in, mascara, eyeliner, brushes. i found one that i loved! it was like an octagon, and then a short round one i thought would work well too.
$2.00 for both
after that i stopped at walmart and bought some spray paint. i also bought magnets. then it was off to porters to purchase some fabric, metal sheets, and glue.
had to buy some metal for the magnets to stick to.
then over the course of two days i spray painted, glued, taped, and finally finished!
again, love the corners, it makes it look more vintage.

we had fabric wars in my apt, i had two to choose from, this one won!

sorry it's blurry, but this is what i see on my wall every day now.
i really like it! it looks pretty, it's functional, and it is just fun to wake up and see something i made on the wall. so don't be afraid of those pinterest projects you want to try! just try them! i think you'll love it.

scripture of the day:
Lamentations 3: 40-41 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. Let us lift up our hearts with our hands unto God in the heavens.

today i am thankful for:
* cute ideas from random strangers.
* making good choices.
* the wonderful people in my life who bless me.
* a (very early) ride to the airport, last week, from mama johnson.
* a ride home from the airport, last week, from sam basilius.
* amazing new (and old) roommates who make me smile and laugh.
* comfy beds.

That's really neat! Creative and talented you. What are the big squarish things at the top? One is black and one is white.

so did you attach all of your makeup with magnets? Cool, very cool. Good luck with the coaching, you are very brave!

kathy - they're all make-up. one's a bronzer and the other has eyeshadows inside.

angela - yes. i hot glue gunned magnets to the back of all the make-up to attach them. i forgot to mention that, but that way when the make-up is gone you can just pull the magnet off and reuse it! and thanks, i will probably need all the luck i can get coaching!

I definitely like your embellished, vintage frame. It's a good thing we didn't go to DI together or we might have had to fight over it. Good job pinning a project and actually making it. You are awesome!

That is a great make-up board. I love that idea, but since I have no makeup I don't really have a need for it. Hmm, maybe I should buy some make-up and then make one :) Also just a word to the wise, I read on a blog a few days ago that they made one of these and then (after awhile) their makeup started falling off and all broke. Just make sure that you used strong enough magnets. Oh yes, and I love your fabric choice.

mama - i love the frame! more and more! it is so cute. so yes, we probably would have fought over it.

sica - i hope i used strong enough magnets, they seemed pretty good. i bought some normal and some super strong. the super strong ones are on the glass. i put 4 of them on it. so hopefully everything will stay! i think you should buy some and make one! it was super fun!
